Davidson firefighters burned down the former Kidd house at 303 Spring Street on Saturday, Dec. 9, in part for training.
After practicing with smaller fires in the morning, the fire department burned the house completely after lunch. Flames shot a hundred feet into the air and black smoke drifted over the neighborhood as the fire reached its most intense.
The unusual event attracted a crowd of Davidson residents, young and old. As waves of heat radiated from the building across Spring Street, one boy said, “We should’ve brought marshmallows.”
